FROM THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY
The Samara University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was founded in August 1930, when, in accordance with a Decree of the Soviet of People’s Commissars, the Kuibyshev Institute of Civil Engineering was established. Originally they set up the Training and Constructional Centre, including the Institute, two technical secondary schools and three prior learning faculties. Studies for the first 238 students began on October 25, 1930.This day is considered the birthday of the University. Initially there was only one specialty - Industrial and Civil Engineering. In 1933 there were two faculties - civil engineering and sanitary engineering. Over the last 75 years the Institute has changed its name several times, but the main direction of its work remains unchanged: training of specialists for building Production of the country.
In February 1995 the Civil Engineering Institute was given the new name of the Samara Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and in March 2004 University status was granted.
