Call for Papers



The Symposium

The purpose of the symposium is to bring together all those who are interested in the development and implementation of learning and teaching technology for civil engineering education and formation (professional development).

The conference will facilitate the sharing of experience, knowledge and expertise in technology based learning and teaching and its application to civil engineering.

The event will provide a forum for the presentation, demonstration and discussion of issues related to the application of computers, communication and information technology to professional civil engineering education.

Contributions from contributory fields are also encouraged.


Scope of the Symposium

Contributions are solicited in the following areas but these are for guidance only and are not meant to exclude other related topics:


Programme Activities

Technical Sessions of contributed papers
Workshops and Panels
Web Based Pre-Conference Discussion
Social Program
Information for Authors

Papers must be in English and will be subject to review by two referees. Papers accepted for the symposium will be published in the conference proceedings and on-line via the conference web site.

Full papers should be limited to 8 pages, including title, 200-word abstracts, diagrams and bibliography.

Short papers should contain an extended abstract of 2-3 pages including title, diagrams and bibliography.

Workshop proposals should include the title, objectives, agenda, instructor s background, a 200-word abstract, proposed group size, prerequisite knowledge and facilities required.

Papers should be forwarded in both printed and electronic form (preferably Word/Word Perfect or HTML format). An original and 2 copies should be received by the Conference Secretariat no later than 31st January 1999.

Notification of Acceptance 31st March 1999
Final Papers 1st June 1999
